Tomato bruschetta is a classic Italian appetizer: toasted bread topped with ripe tomatoes and basil.

Tomato bruschetta is compelling evidence of the power of simplicity: fresh bread, ripe tomatoes, and a sprinkle of oregano are enough to create a balance of flavors that evokes the essence of Italian cuisine. This appetizer does not need complexity, but its success depends on selected ingredients and a mastery of the fire to toast the bread without making it bitter. Its versatility makes it perfect for an evening out or an informal dinner, where authentic taste is always best.

Tomato Bruschetta

Ingredients

  • 8 Rustic bread
  • 1 lb Tomatoes
  • 8 Basil
  • to taste Oregano
  • to taste oil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste black pepper

Equipment

  • Knife
  • Bowl
  • Toaster/Grill

Instructions

  1. 1

To prepare the tomato bruschetta, first wash the tomatoes, cut them in half and then cut them into cubes. Pour the tomatoes into a bowl and add the basil leaves, previously washed and dried.

  2. 2

Season with a pinch of oregano, salt, pepper and oil. Mix well and let it rest for about 30 minutes. The rest is optional, but we recommend it because the flavors and aromas will blend.

  3. 3

In the meantime, cut the bread into slices. After the resting time, heat a grill well and place the slices of bread on top. Grill them on both sides until they are toasted.

  4. 4

At this point, distribute the tomato salad on the slices of bread, season again with a drizzle of oil and let it rest for a couple of minutes, then serve your tomato bruschetta!

Ago's Notes

  • Adjust the salt according to the salt content of the preserves.

May these simple yet intense bruschetta ensure that every bite is a tribute to the authentic flavors of Italian cuisine - and that your table is always the most inviting place.
