Honey Cake
A moist and flavorful honey cake with a sweet glaze and creamy frosting.
This honey cake combines the natural sweetness of honey with a light, fluffy texture. The glaze and cream cheese frosting make it a perfect dessert for any occasion.

Instructions
- 1
In a bowl, combine the milk and sour cream and mix well. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- 2
In a larger third bowl, beat the butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, then add the honey.
- 3
Next, add the eggs one at a time, followed by half of the dry ingredients, then half of the sour cream mixture, the remaining dry ingredients, and finally the rest of the sour cream mixture. Mix just until combined.
- 4
Pour the batter into the greased and floured pan, smooth the top, and bake in a preheated oven at 165°C (330°F) for about 25-30 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to glaze.
- 5
Meanwhile, prepare the glaze: In a small non-stick saucepan over medium-low heat, combine butter, honey, orange juice, sugar, and salt. Stir until smooth and combined. While the cake is still warm, brush it generously with the honey-butter glaze.
- 6
While the cake cools completely, prepare the frosting: In a bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar with an electric mixer until smooth. Add vanilla extract and heavy cream, then continue whipping until fluffy and spreadable. Frost the cake only once it is completely cool.
- 7
The honey cake is ready to serve.
Ago's Notes
- Corrected ingredient ID 'yeast' to 'baking-powder' (baking powder is a leavening agent, not yeast)
- Standardized US-style measurements: 'tbsp' → 'Tbsp' for consistency
This honey cake delivers a perfect balance of honey sweetness and creamy richness. I love how it stays moist without being dense, and the glaze adds just the right touch of brightness. While it shares similarities with traditional Italian honey cakes, this version is lighter and more approachable for home bakers. The flavor is deeply comforting yet elegant, with a hint of citrus from the orange juice.
