A refreshing homemade lemonade made with fresh strawberries, mint, honey, and lemon juice.

Fresh Strawberry Mint Lemonade

Ingredients

  • 2 lb Strawberries
  • 1/2 cup Lemon Juice
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 cup Honey
  • 5 cup Water

Instructions

    Dissolve honey in lukewarm water and stir until smooth. Warm water is enough to loosen the honey and help it dissolve. Make sure the water is warm, not boiling, to preserve honey’s natural benefits. Set aside.Tip — Honey does not always mix evenly into cold liquids, so stirring it into lukewarm water first helps it blend smoothly.

    Before using, wash the strawberries thoroughly, remove the green tops, and trim away any bruised spots.

    Since strawberries are blended into the drink, fully ripe berries will give the best flavor and natural sweetness. The sweeter and juicier the berries, the better the lemonade will taste.Tip — Avoid berries that are mushy, dull, or overly soft, as they can make the lemonade taste flat.

    Wash mint leaves. Use bright green mint leaves that look fresh and fragrant. Avoid dark, wilted, or bruised leaves, as they can taste bitter.

    Always use fresh lemon juice. Fresh lemons give the drink a brighter, cleaner flavor than bottled lemon juice.

    Add strawberries and mint along with 1/2 cup water to the blender. Blend until thick and smooth. I prefer to strain the strawberry puree through a muslin cloth for a smoother drink. This step is optional, but it creates a cleaner lemonade texture and removes tiny strawberry seeds.Leave the puree unstrained for a thicker, fruitier drink. This gives the lemonade more body and a fresh homemade feel.

    Stir in lemon juice, honey dissolved in water, and pour in the remaining water and stir.Tip — You can blend the mint with the strawberries for a stronger mint flavor or muddle it gently for a milder taste.Mint should support the drink, not overpower it. Start with a smaller amount.

    Chill before serving. Cold lemonade tastes brighter and more refreshing.If you are making the sparkling version, mix in the bubbles at the end so the drink does not go flat.
