Taralli

Ingredients

  • 1.1 lb Flour
  • 6.7 oz White Wine
  • 4 oz oil
  • 0.3 oz Salt

Equipment

  • Bowl Or Stand Mixer
  • Kneading Surface
  • pot
  • Baking Sheet
  • Oven
  • Slotted Spoon

Instructions

  1. 1

To prepare the taralli, start by mixing the ingredients in a bowl or, if you prefer, in a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook. Add the flour, salt, and oil and mix briefly to obtain a crumbly mixture.

  2. 2

Now add the wine, mix everything together, and transfer the mixture to a lightly floured surface and knead by hand for about ten minutes.

  3. 3

After this time, detach small pieces of dough and shape them with your fingertips to form a thick strand, about 1 cm thick and 12 cm long. Then join the ends by folding one end over the other to form a kind of donut. Keep in mind that with these ingredients and this method, you will get about 60 pieces. Meanwhile, bring a pot of water to a boil.

  4. 4

As you shape them, place the taralli on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. When you have formed all the taralli, immerse a few pieces at a time in the boiling water, using a slotted spoon. As soon as they float to the surface, they will be ready to be drained on a tray lined with a clean cloth; continue cooking all the others.

  5. 5

Transfer the donuts to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 190° for about 40 minutes. Here are your taralli, enjoy!
