Thai Meatball Salad - Yum Look Chin
A vibrant and spicy Thai meatball salad (Yum Look Chin) featuring juicy meatballs tossed in a zesty dressing of lime, fish sauce, and chili.
This Yum Look Chin is a perfect balance of spicy, sour, and salty flavors. It's a refreshing salad that brings the authentic taste of Thai street food straight to your kitchen using simple ingredients like pantry staples and fresh herbs.

Instructions
- 1
Bring a medium pot of water to a boil, then add the meatballs and cook for about 2 minutes or until heated through. Drain and set aside.
- 2
Cut the cilantro sprigs in half, dividing the leafy part from the part with only stems. Roughly chop both parts of the cilantro but keep them separated.
- 3
For the dressing: In a mortar and pestle, add the chopped cilantro stems, garlic and chilies and pound into a fine paste. Add the palm sugar and pound to dissolve, then add the fish sauce and lime juice and stir until all the sugar is dissolved into the dressing.
- 4
Add the meatballs to a large mixing bowl and pour the dressing over and mix. Add all the vegetables and herbs and toss to mix.
- 5
Plate and top with roasted peanuts and serve with jasmine rice.
I absolutely love how the heat from the Thai chilies cuts through the richness of the meatballs. This salad is much lighter and more aromatic than a traditional Italian pasta salad; while both use fresh herbs, the punch of fish sauce and lime creates a completely different flavor profile. It's incredibly refreshing!
