Gratinated Fennel

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Fennel
  • 1.3 oz oil
  • 1.7 oz Parmesan Cheese
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 2.7 oz Breadcrumbs
  • 2 Thyme

Equipment

  • Baking Dish
  • Oven

Instructions

  1. 1

To prepare the gratinated fennel, first wash them well and cut them into slices about 1 cm thick, without cutting the base. Then cut the same slices in half lengthwise. Arrange the fennel in a baking dish and pour over the extra virgin olive oil.

  2. 2

Now season with salt and pepper, an abundant amount of grated Parmesan cheese, and finally, breadcrumbs.

  3. 3

Cook the fennel for the first 15 minutes in static mode at 170°C. Then switch to grill mode and cook for another 5 minutes at 230°C. When the fennel is well gratinated, remove it from the oven and flavor your warm baking dish with fresh thyme. Now your gratinated fennel is ready to be served!

Ago's Notes

  • Adjust the salt according to the salt content of the preserved ingredients.

Enjoy the gratinated fennel; its sweet and savory flavors blend perfectly in a delightful balance, much like a toast to simple yet sophisticated cooking. The toasted breadcrumbs and fresh thyme complement each bite beautifully.
